Everyone knows the classic tongue twister, "Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he?" But what does it really mean? Is Fuzzy Wuzzy a metaphor for something? Let's explore.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. This much is clear. But what kind of bear was he? A grizzly bear? A black bear? A polar bear? We don't know. What we do know is that he was a bear with no hair. Now, this could be because he was balding and in the early stages of hair loss. Or, it could be because he simply didn't have any hair to begin with. Regardless, the important thing to note here is that Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't actually fuzzy. He was, as the name implies, bald.
So why is this important? Well, it turns out that the whole "Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't so fuzzy" thing is actually a play on words. You see, the word "fuzzy" can also mean "hazy" or "not clear." So when we say that Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't so fuzzy, we're really saying that he wasn't so hazy or unclear. In other words, he was pretty easy to understand!
In our hugely popular tongue twister game KAMBA, you’ll find our own unqiue tribute to Fuzzy Wuzzy via our Big Bald Bear card, (pictured).

Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn’t fuzzy, was he?", just remember that it's not as complicated as it seems. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't actually fuzzy—he was bald! And the whole " Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't so fuzzy" thing is just a play on words meaning that he was pretty easy to understand. So there you have it: the mystery of Fuzzy Wuzzy solved!
Editor’s Note:
We also have this theory, although we can't find a shred of evidence to support it: Fuzzy Wuzzy might have been a much loved Teddy Bear whose hair had been rubbed away by years of love and cuddling. This would explain the problem with both being a bear and having no hair....plus it has the bonus of being a cute explanation!
